Dr. Shakeen Singh did his MBBS (1983), DOMS (1987) and MS (1993) in Ophthalmology  from Government Medical College, Amritsar. He served as District Ophthalmic Surgeon for 3 years before joining sgrduhs as Senior Lecturer in 1998  and is presently Professor and Head of the  Department of Ophthalmology. He has also served as Deputy Medical Superintendent and Medical Superintendent.

He did short term training from Moor Field Eye Hospital, London, Anterior Segment and  Phaco training  from AIIMS, and Eye Banking training from LVP Eye Hospital Hyderabad. Presently, he is President of Punjab Ophthalmology Society,  Joint Secretary of Ocular Trauma Society of India,  North Zone Representative of Eye Bank Association of India, Executive member Asia Pacific Society of Ocular Trauma, and an active member of ASORC. He is a life member of  AIOS, DOS, SPOSI, NZOS, POS as well as EBAI.  

Dr Shakeen has been honored by Punjab Government twice for contribution towards ‘Bilateral Blindness Eradication mission’ in the State. He has been invited faculty with American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery for many years,  and has represented the AIOS team to Egyptian Society Ophthalmology at Cairo, Egypt. He was a part of  faculty at the International Society of Ocular Trauma at Rome, Italy and NIH, Singapore. He is a member of an  international study being conducted globally, ‘International Globe and Adnexal Trauma Epidemiology Study’.

He successfully organized a State Ophthalmology Conference and a National Ocular Trauma Conference at sgrduhs. He has presented more than 40 international as well as 100 National and Regional papers. Two of his Best Papers from POS have been nominated at AIOS meetings. He has been  Chairman/Co-Chairman /Moderator of more than 50 scientific sessions and has been a judge for AIOS/DOS/POS for several years. He has 30 peer reviewed publications.

He has been an active member of Quality Council of India. Did his NABH Assessor course in 2012 and  has conducted more than 40 inspections for NABH across India.

Dr Pawan Prasher completed his MBBS (1999) from Govt Medical College, Chandigarh and MS (2004) in Ophthalmology from Govt Medical College, Patiala. He did a fellowship in Ophthalmic Pathology from Jules Stein Eye Institute, University of California, followed by a long-term clinical fellowship in Cornea, External Diseases and Refractive Surgery from University of Texas.

He joined as a faculty in sgrduhs in 2009 and is currently Professor of Ophthalmology. As the only Cornea fellowship trained Ophthalmologist in Amritsar, he was instrumental in restarting the corneal transplantation services at SGRD, especially in advanced lamellar keratoplasty techniques.

Dr Prasher has been a recipient of Annual Research Award from American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery for his pioneering work on endothelial keratoplasty. He was awarded Pradeep Swarup Award by All India Ophthalmological Society, Developing Nations Grant by Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology, Winner of Archives of Ophthalmology quiz twice, Best Teaching Video Award by Indian Intraocular Lens and Refractive Surgery Society of India, Best Paper Award at Biennial Conference of Himachal Pradesh Ophthalmological Society and Young Achiever’s Award by North Zone Ophthalmological Society.

Dr Prasher has over 120 presentations in various international, national and regional conferences. He  has more than 45 publications, and is editorial member and  reviewer in various international and national journals .  He has over 560 citations with h index of 13 and h10 index of 16. His research interests include Corneal Transplantation, Ocular Surface Inflammations, Dry Eyes, Cataract, Ocular Pathology and Ophthalmic Genetics.

Dr. Mandeep Kaur did MBBS (1997) from Government Medical College, Amritsar, Punjab and served in the Armed forces for 5 years as a short service commissioned officer before doing MS (2010) in Ophthalmology from INHS, Asivini (Naval Hospital), Mumbai. She completed a fellowship in Oculoplasty in 2011 from KBHB Charitable Eye and ENT Hospital, Mumbai. She also did short term fellowship in SICS and Phacoemulsification. She was a consultant at Dr. Om Prakash Institute of Eye, Amritsar before joining sgrduhs as Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology.

Dr Mandeep has presented various papers and posters in state level and national level conferences and has judged scientific paper sessions at state level.  She has one international and 5 national publications. She is a regional faculty member in a certificate course in evidence based management of Diabetic Retinopathy (CCDR).

She is a life time member of Indian Medical Association, Delhi Ophthalmological Society, Punjab Ophthalmological Society, North Zone Ophthalmological Society, Ocular Trauma Society of India, All India Ophthalmology Society and Oculoplastic Society of India
