Background History
The SGRD Medical College, Library was established in the year 2000 when the new College building started functioning. Year after year it made steady progress. It has grown into a collection of 18975 Medical Books. It receives about 192 periodicals yearly for the central library and department library.

Library Facilities
Reference Section – Latest editions of books and newly arrived periodicals are arranged alphabetically & made available to be read in library premises.
Photocopying facility is available to all.
Library is airconditioned.
TechLib Library Automation Software is available which has inbuilt Library catalogues.
Library has a separate IT section for internet search with computers for internet browsing and research.
Separate reading rooms are available for faculty and PG Students.
Book-Bank facility – Books are issued to students for 14 days.
Newspapers - The Central Library receives 8 daily newspapers, ensuring a diverse range of news coverage in multiple languages. Of these, 3 are published in English: The Tribune, Hindustan Times, and Indian Express. There are 3 newspapers in Punjabi: Ajit, Jagbani, and Punjabi Jagran. Additionally, 2 newspapers are in Hindi: Dainik Bhaskar and Punjab Kesri. These newspapers serve as an important resource for keeping up with local, national, and international news."
Various textbooks of the curriculum are available in the library for reserved category students. Books can be issued & reissued on a monthly basis for as long as desirable.

- The library offers a vast collection of valuable and informative resources, including books, journals, research thesis, and electronic books available on CD-ROMs and DVD-ROMs, all designed to meet the diverse needs of users.

B. Internet Facilities: Available
C. DELNET-Developing Library Software: Access to selected international full-text journals in various fields, including Homeopathy, Medical, Nursing, Para-Medical, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Yoga, etc. It provides access to more than 2200+e-journals in medical sciences it also provides access to more than 3.7 crore catalogue records of books, journals, articles, etc. with the facility to borrow books (on Inter-Library Loan) and obtain copies of journal articles through DELNET.
D. Library Timings
- Monday to Saturday: 8:00 AM to 12:00 Midnight
- During examination days, Library timings are 8:00 am to 2:00 am in midnight and library remains opened even on Sundays
