Dr. Mandeep Kang is an accomplished Physiotherapy academician, researcher, administrator, and clinician with nearly two decades of experience in Physiotherapy education, research, and clinical practice. She completed her Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) from Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, in 2003, followed by a Master of Sports Physiotherapy (MSPT) from the same university in 2005. She earned her PhD in 2022, with research focusing on the physical disability, psychological, and socio-economic status of stroke survivors in the Amritsar district of Punjab. She began her academic career as a Lecturer at Khalsa College, Amritsar, and joined Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Amritsar, in October 2006.
Dr. Kang has made significant contributions to academic leadership and professional development in Physiotherapy. She is currently the President of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists (IAP) Women Cell, Punjab State, and previously served as Joint Coordinator of IAP Punjab. She is an Editor of the Indian Journal of Physical Therapy (IJOPT) and actively serves as a peer reviewer for several national and international journals. She is also a member of the Board of Studies of various universities, including Khalsa University, Amritsar, and has been appointed as an External Examiner for undergraduate, postgraduate, dissertation, and viva examinations in numerous institutions. In addition, she has served as an Expert Member of PhD Research Degree Committees and has mentored PhD scholars by providing research methodology training as part of their doctoral programs.
An active contributor to continuing professional education, Dr. Kang has delivered lectures at prestigious academic platforms, including the 9th and 11th International Conference of Physiotherapy (INCPT) at AIIMS, New Delhi. She has also delivered lectures on lifestyle advancements, sports injury rehabilitation, and the biomechanics of the diabetic foot during Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs organized by the Department of Plastic Surgery, Sri Guru Ram Das University of Health Sciences and Research, Amritsar, and the Indian Podiatric Association. She has organized and conducted numerous webinars, seminars, workshops, and CME programs for physiotherapy professionals and students. Additionally, she has completed an Advanced Certificate Course in Yoga from Punjabi University, Patiala, further strengthening her expertise in holistic rehabilitation.
Dr. Kang has been recognized nationally for her academic excellence and professional contributions. She has a copyright registered for the work titled "COMPREHENSIVE MULTIDIMENSIONAL ASSESSMENT TOOL FOR EVALUATING PHYSICAL, bSOCIOECONOMIC AND FUNCTIONAL INDEPENDENCE IN CHRONIC STROKE PATIENTS." She received the prestigious "Woman of Excellence – Academics" Award at the 2nd National Conference of IAP Women Cell and Physiomanthan in September 2024. She was also honored with the "Achrekar of Physios" Award during Sports Connect-4 in December 2022. She served as an esteemed judge for the Postgraduate Neurology Paper Presentation at the 2nd National Conference of IAP Women Cell and has been invited as a panelist, chairperson, scientific committee member, and organizing committee member for numerous national and international conferences, including Sports Connect-4, Sports Connect-5, the 2nd National Conference of IAP Women Cell, and the upcoming AWP International Conference 2026.
Her academic and research contributions are extensive. Dr. Kang has attended more than 30 national and international conferences and has presented 17 scientific papers at various national conferences. She has authored 22 research publications in reputed national and international journals. She has also organized several hands-on workshops on advanced physiotherapy techniques, including Kinesio Taping, Mobilization, Dry Needling, and Cupping Therapy, and served as the Organizing Secretary of the CME "Rebooting Skills in Physiotherapy." She is actively involved in scientific publishing, peer review, curriculum development, and academic quality assurance.
A dedicated professional committed to advancing the profession of physiotherapy, Dr. Mandeep Kang continues to contribute through teaching, research, academic leadership, clinical excellence, and professional service. She is a Life Member of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists and remains actively engaged in promoting evidence-based practice, interdisciplinary collaboration, and excellence in physiotherapy education and healthcare.
