Academic, Histopathology and Immunohistochemistry (3 wings)
The department of pathology is responsible for teaching both undergraduate and post graduate students in a comprehensive and structured manner. The department is supported by a team of highly qualified and skilled faculty members who play a vital role in its success as reflected by the excellent pass rates and a high number of distinctions achieved by students.
Regular class test, periodic evaluations and continuous feedback from students regarding teaching quality are integral to the departments academic process.
The department also organizes regular seminars that help students build confidence and update their existing knowledge.
Practical sessions are conducted to enable students to understand the diagnostic application of pathology. This approach helps prepare students to become competent clinicians in the future.
The postgraduate teaching programme are also included by conducting slide seminars, seminars on various topics and the recent advances related to them so as to keep postgraduates updated regarding various staging in the diagnosis and protocols regarding various techniques in histopathology.
The departmental museum houses a total of 317 specimens and serves as an important academic resource for students and faculty. The collection includes specimens from various organ systems such as the gastrointestinal tract, hepatobiliary system, cardiovascular system, respiratory system, genitourinary tract, endocrine organs, and tumors of different sites
HISTOPATHOLOGY
The Histopathology unit caters of 11,000 cases yearly and has a backup of Immunohistochemical studies which are routinely employed in cases wherever required.
Clinical Pathology, Hematology and Cytology (3 wings)
On an average the clinical wing caters to 6500 patients monthly for the various investigations like haematology (including Bone Marrow Aspiration and Biopsy), Cytology and Clinical Pathology. The clinical pathology Laboratory in the hospital operates round the clock. The laboratory is well-equipped which provides accurate diagnostic work and effective teaching, enabling students and technicians to perform procedures efficiently while maintaining quality standards. The equipment used in the department are Erba lite, sysmex and destiny plus.
The Laboratory is NABL Accredited as ISO15189:2022
